** Important information for Active Duty Service Members**

COVID-19 update: To ensure the safety of both patients and dental staff, the American Dental Association is asking that all elective (non-emergency) dental procedures be postponed at this time. Click here for more information on dental emergencies.

If you are experiencing a dental emergency (emergency dental care includes any treatment necessary to relieve pain, treat infection, or control bleeding) you should:

  • Call United Concordia’s dental emergency line at 1-800-858-0051*
For more information on remote and DTF-referred emergency policies, click here.

* Note that this line is to be used for dental emergencies only.  It is available Sunday, 6:00 pm - Friday, 10:00 pm, Eastern Time.

You may also seek care for a dental emergency from your closest emergency room; however, please understand that the healthcare system may be overwhelmed with medical patients at this time and it is recommended that you contact your dentist and/or United Concordia for assistance.

At the discretion of your military dental treatment facility (DTF), the ADDP will provide private sector ADDP dental benefits for care received from a United Concordia network dentist for active duty service members (ADSMs) who are unable to receive required care from their DTF. Upon military DTF referral, United Concordia will coordinate an appointment for routine dental care within 21 calendar days of request and 28 days for specialty dental care.

Benefits will be provided as delineated in the The Active Duty Dental Benefit (Attachment 2 of the ADDP contract). Frequency limitations noted in the benefits attachment do not apply to DTF-referred ADSMs.

If you are referred for private sector dental care from your military DTF, you must receive the services prescribed on the DTF's referral. No alternate or additional services may be provided unless approved by the military DTF. Contact your military DTF if the civilian dentist determines you need additional care not included on the initial referral.

Network Dentists

You must use a United Concordia network dentist to receive covered dental services as part of the ADDP. You are responsible for payment of care if you choose to utilize a non-network dentist without prior approval. If there is no network dentist available, either you or your military DTF must call United Concordia at 1-866-984-ADDP (2337) to verify lack of network availability and receive permission to utilize a non-network dentist.

Using a network dentist relieves you of financial and administrative burdens. DTF-referred ADSMs have no "out of pocket" expenses and are never required to pay up front for covered dental services. Further, United Concordia network dentists will submit claims on your behalf.

You can use our Find a Dentist tool to search for United Concordia network dentists near your home or work. If you need assistance, United Concordia can make an appointment for you with a network dentist.
